On May 13, 2013, In response to a question about the rights of women who had been abused by the military during the war, Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto made an astonishing comment: “Anyone can understand that the Comfort Woman system was necessary at that time”.  This remark has been strongly condemned inside and outside Japan.
Shinfujin simultaneously started a protest movement against the mayor of Osaka and the Japanese government as a whole.
